We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and are ready for a new, busy half term! Maths In maths, Y6 will learn and revise: * Co-ordinates in 4 quadrants, * Decimals * Percentages. * Algebra English In English, our key texts this half term will be ‘ The Promise' and 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret'. During this half term we will focus on: * Character descriptions * Diary entries * Journalistic writing and much more Through our English lessons, we will also focus on our grammar, spelling and punctuation. We will learn, practice and refine using commas and semi colons, exclamation marks and punctuation involving parenthesis. We will also look at using fronted adverbials, using word choices carefully in our work and looking at spelling rules. Geography We are continuing with our geography topic of maps this half term. We will be learning about symbols and co-ordinates, hopefully to plan a route. Science 'Animals and their Habitats' In this unit we will be learning about classifying animals, including micro-organisms. Our investigation will be into the growth of mold on bread.

Homework In Year 6 children are expected to practice their times tables, spellings and read regularly at home for their homework. During this next half term the children will have a tiny bit more homework to help with their SATS tests in May.
