Welcome back after the Summer holiday!
This half term the topic in our class is “The Great Fire of London”
Our English work will continue to be drawn from the Literacy Tree. Our books this half term are “Wolves”, and “The Great Fire of London”. We will continue on developing our phonics skills through both reading, writing and our phonics sessions..
All of the children will have a Spelling Shed log in, new spellings will be put on each Monday so please look out for them.
Our Maths work this half term will continue to follow the Power Maths Scheme. We will be extending our understanding of Place Value and begin to work with numbers up to 100. We will also continue to count in 2s, 5s and 10s and begin to apply this knowledge to Times Tables.
The children will be given a Times Tables Rockstar log in so that they are able to practice at home.
In Science we will be exploring the properties of materials, we will develop our investigation skills by carrying out investigations about how materials change.
In History this half term we will be learning how London has changed and grown, the materials that helped the fire to spread and how it was put out. As part of this we will be looking at, and writing from different perspectives. We will also explore the life of Samuel Pepys and his involvement in the fire.
In RE we will be exploring the Jewish religion and finding out about their beliefs. We will look at special objects in relation to ourselves and the Jewish faith.
Our computing will focus on Information Technology, what it is, where we find IT in our lives and how it helps us.
Our PE slots remain Monday (outside) and Wednesday (inside), and children should continue to come in their PE kits (Black or dark blue shorts, white T shirt, black pumps or trainers. They will also need a black or dark blue sweatshirt or hoodie/jogging trousers or leggings for when the weather gets colder, they will also need to bring a coat for outdoor sessions).
The children will be sent home a Monster Phonics Book to read each Friday, please return them on Thursday so that they can be changed ready or Friday.
Please remember to send a named water bottle into school so that your child can have a drink throughout the day. The water bottle should contain plain water only.
If you have any worries or concerns or would like to ask a question then please do not hesitate to contact me via Dojo message or come to see me at the end of the day. Please remember that absence should be reported through Parent Mail so that the register can be updated.
