Welcome to Mr Felthams' Class!
This half term the topic in our class is “The Great Fire of London!” We will be learning all about London and it's history. We will explore the materials that helped the fire to spread and we will write about what happened from a range of perspectives.
Our English work will continue to be drawn from the Literacy Tree. Our books this half term are “Wolves”, and “The Great Fire of London”. We will continue to focus on developing our phonics skills through both reading and writing. Check Spelling Shed every Monday for new spellings!
In History this half term we will be learning about how London has changed, the causes of the Great Fire and what happened as a result. We will also explore the life of Samuel Pepys and his involvement in the fire.
In RE this half term we will be exploring the Jewish religion and discovering what they believe. We will also identify special objects and how some things in our lives can have deeper meanings than they may seem to have at first glance.
Our Maths work this half term will continue to follow the Power Maths Scheme. We will be learning about place value and numbers up to 100. We will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, and beginning to link this to the times tables. The children will be given individual logins for Times Tables Rockstars so that they can practice at home.
Our computing this half term will be linked to the idea of Information Technology, recognising what IT is, where we find it in our lives and how it helps us.
Our PE slots remain Monday and Friday, and children should continue to come in their PE kits and outdoor shoes on these days.
Please don’t forget to return your reading books every Thursday so that they can be changed on Friday!
Have a great half term!
