Welcome to Mr Felthams' Class!
Welcome to Mr Feltham’s Year 2 Class!
This half term the topic in our class is “Oceans and Ponds!” We will be learning all about various bodies of water around the world, and also about some of the animals that live in them.
Our English work will continue to be drawn from the Literacy Tree. Our books this half term are “The Owl and the Pussycat”, and “The Tadpole’s Promise”. These two stories have watery settings and also link to our Science work, which is about living things and their habitats.
In Geography this half term we will be learning about seas and oceans from around the planet, learning a bit about how they are used by people, and also about the animals that live in them. We will also try and find their locations on maps and globes.
In RE this half term we will be recognising what makes each of us special, and we will be learning about how Christians and Jewish people learn about caring for each other, about giving to charity and about protecting and caring for our planet.
Our Maths work this half term will continue to follow the Power Maths Scheme. We will be learning about shapes, including 2D and 3D shapes, and patters that can be made with these shapes. We will also learn about Fractions as we continue to consolidate the work we did during home learning earlier in the year.
Our computing this half term will be linked to the idea of photography, and we will be taking photos using Ipads, experimenting with changing and framing photos and selecting and altering them to make them the best that they can be!
Our PE slots remain Monday and Friday, and children should continue to come in their PE kits and outdoor shoes on these days.
Please don’t forget to log on to the Monster Phonics Reading Scheme every day and check out your child’s phonics reading book!
As the year gets warmer, please remember to send sun cream, hats and water bottles (named) to school so that all children can safely enjoy the warmer weather!
Have a great half term!
