Writing: Children will be looking at two interesting and different books this term: Beowulf and Anglo-Saxon Boy. From these texts we will be writing: Letters, descriptions and narrative. We will also be doing Haiku's and Dimante poems for Remberance Day. Grammar: We will be focusing on a range of things from the Year 3/4 curriculum including inverted commas for speech, subordinating clauses using subordinating conjunctions and fronted adverbials. WCR: In this subject we will be looking at two books: Men, Women and Children in Anglo Saxon times and You wouldn't want to be an Anglo-Saxon. During these lessons, children will be focusing on retrieval, interpretation, author’s choice, viewpoint, performance and then review skills. Maths - Y4 - Addition and Subtraction and Perimeter. Y3 - Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division. Addition and Subtraction: For this part of maths, children will be adding and subtracting up to 4 digit numbers using the formal written method, estimate answers using their rounding skills and begin to check their answers using the inverse operation. Perimeter: Children will be learning what perimeter is and working out how to find the perimeter of different shapes, as well a calculating answers using measurements provided. Multiplication and Division: The Year 3's will be working on developing their understanding of multiplication and division, with a focus on the 3, 4 and 8 x tables. Science - Animals including Humans Within this topic we will look at: Digestion and how it works as well as teeth and what we can do to prevent tooth decay. Key Information P.E is on a Tuesday and Friday. Due to covid, children need to come in their PE kit. Please make sure your child has the correct PE kit, plain white t-shirt and plain black or blue trousers. No logos. As we will be outside, please ensure children are dressed appropriately. Please can you also make sure that all jewellery is removed. Homework this year will be focusing on children reading at home, spellings and practicing their times tables.
