Welcome to Reception!
Our topic this term is 'Strength of Mind'
Isn't it lovely to see the sun shining and things starting to grow outside.
I can't wait to get started on our Summer learning...
This term we will be learning about dogs, cats and other animals that people have as pets. We will enjoy the story Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy which will lead us on to:
The Hairy Maclary books are great fun to read: why not take a trip to the library and see if you can borrow one of these to read at home?
In Maths we are continuing to order numbers and find missing numbers in a sequence. We will explore 3D shapes and attempt some problem solving challenges linked to Hairy Maclary. We will also investigate the capacity of containers in our in-house vets!
As usual, I'm sure it will be a busy and energetic term that will continue to excite and motivate the children.
Please read our overview for more information.
Don't forget to check our Class Dojo page daily for regular updates and messages as well as to see all the proud photos and videos produced by the children.
Many thanks for your continued support at home, especially with reading.
Phonics - Tricky words
Ask your child what they learnt each day in phonics. We are now teaching phonics twice a day so they should be able to tell you.
You can find out what happens in our story here:
Tuesday is PE day
We are fortunate to be able to enjoy Multi-Skills next term delivered by Qualitas! I can't wait to see the children build skills and progress. They have really enjoyed football skills this term and learned so much.
Tricky Words Challenge
Thank you so much to everyone who is working hard on the tricky words reading challenge. I'm sure it won't be long until more children are getting a prize for learning their tricky words. Keep it up...
Library Books - Monday and Thursday!
Thank you for your £1 a week contributions to allow us to bake. The children love it and gain so much from the experience.
Homework will start every week after Easter.
