This term we are learning about Nursery Rhymes
Welcome back, we hope you all had a great Summer break. And an especially warm welcome to our new children and their families. We look forward to working in partnership to enable your child to have the best nursery experience as possible.
We want you all to feel part of our nursery family. If you have an issue or a concern, please come and speak to us, there is no such thing as a silly question.
The first two weeks at nursery will be focusing on settling the children in and getting to know them. They will also be learning about the nursery routines and boundaries. Please remember that they are still very young and for some children this is the first time they have had to share and develop their social skills in a new environment. Children will have disagreements and falling outs, it is normal, so please don't worry.
Please make sure your child has a coat (named) at school and as the weather turns chillier, please make sure they bring a hat and scarf with them. Wellies can be left at school (please make sure all clothing is named).
We are really excited to introduce our new topic Nursery Rhymes
The children will be learning a different nursery rhyme each week. This will be part of our nursery rhyme challenge, this is were the children have to recite 8 nursery rhymes independently. When they can do this they will receive a certificate and a book.
In Numeracy the children will be beginning to recognise, write and count using the numbers up to 10+. We will be learning to count forwards and backwards, say the number 1 more than a given number, begin to write numbers, count objects accurately and find and use numbers as labels.
In Literacy the children will be learning lots of new rhymes, listening to lots of exciting stories and looking at non-fiction books. They will be writing lots of letter shapes and starting to recognise and write their name. They will look at story settings and story characters and talk about how a story might end.
Our role play area will be a home corner.
In our mini topic we will be learning all about Autumn. We will be looking at changes through the season.
