Welcome to Nursery! |
This term we are learning about Nursery Rhymes Welcome back, what a strange time we are living in, it is so lovely to see everyone back at nursery this term. The children have settled in well and we are all looking forward to a very exciting Autumn 2. We look forward to continue working in partnership to enable your child to have the best nursery experience as possible. We want you all to feel part of our nursery family. If you have an issue or a concern, please come and speak to us, there is no such thing as a silly question. The first week will be a conclusion to our Autumn topic. We will then continue with our nursery rhyme theme. The children will continue to be learning about the nursery routines and boundaries. Please remember that they are all still very young and for some children this is the first time they have had to share and develop their social skills in a new environment. Children will have disagreements and falling outs, it is normal, so please don't worry. Reminder Please make sure your child has a coat (named) at school and as the weather turns chillier, please make sure they bring a hat and scarf with them. Wellies can be left at school (please make sure all clothing is named). Our Topic Nursery Rhymes The children will be learning a different rhyme each week. We will focus on one rhyme at a time and build our learning around it. Children will be looking at the different characters, settings and reciting the rhyme. We will be taking part in the Nursery Rhyme Challenge (the children have to recite 8 rhymes and will receive a certificate and a book on completion) In Numeracy the children will be beginning to recognise, write and count using the numbers up to 10+. We will be learning to count forwards and backwards, say the number 1 more than a given number, begin to write numbers, count objects accurately and find and use numbers as labels. In Literacy the children will be learning lots of new rhymes, listening to lots of exciting stories and looking at non-fiction books. They will be writing lots of letter shapes and starting to recognise and write their name. They will look at story settings and story characters and talk about how a story might end. The children will take part in a short phonics session daily. Our role play area will be a home corner. In our mini topic we will be learning all about Winter. We will be looking at changes through the season.
