Welcome to Mrs Partridge's Class!
Our Topic this term is - Paws, Claws and Crawly things!
I hope that you all had a great Easter break and feel refreshed! We have a busy and exciting term to look forward to.
Our Learning- Paws, claws and crawly things.
Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers… What’s your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers? From pets at home to animals in a zoo. Let’s find out what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep.
In Literacy we will be focusing on descriptive writing, recounts, lists and instructions. We will work hard on letter formation, making sure that all of our lower and upper case letters are correctly formed. We are also continuing to focus on children using capital letters, full stops, questions, finger spaces, conjunctions and adjectives in their writing. We will continue to have daily phonic sessions.
In Maths, we are going to be learning about Place Value within 50, counting in multiples of 2, 5 and 10, measuring height and length and measuring weight and volume.
In Science we will be learning about different types of animals and classifying them. We will also be observing and describing the seasonal changes of Spring.
In Geography we will be exploring contrasting localities and the wild and wonderful weather on our planet.
In RE we will be thinking about friendship. We will explore how friendship is taught through Christianity and other faiths.
This term we are using a new format for our homework. We hope that this new approach will engage the children and allow them to share their individual talents. New homework will be given out on Fridays and should be returned the following Thursday.
Please read at home with your child as often as you can and sign their reading record. It would be beneficial to make sure your child brings their reading folder each day.
I'm so excited about the learning opportunities that lie in store for us this term.
