Welcome to Year 3/4!
Our topic this half term is, 'The Rainforest'
How the curriculum will be covered....
In English, we will be basing our work on these three texts and spending time looking at the similarities and differences between them. The texts we are looking at are The BFG, The Tear Thief and The Tin Forest.
During the term the children will have opportunities to write different types of text. These include: Narrative, Recount, Character description, Letters, Poetry and Information posters
We will be continuing with our whole class guided reading and this term we will focus more on inference.
Please can you help your child by reading regularly at home and asking them questions about what they have read.
Both Year 3 and 4 will be focussing on: Place Value, Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division
We will be focussing on developing our reasoning and problem solving skills.
Please can you play Times Tables Rockstars regularly at home as this will enable your child to learn their tables in a fun way. Please come and see us if you have lost your log in details.
In Science we will be focussing on plants.
We will be describing the different parts of flowering plants.
Exploring what plants need to live and grow.
Investigating how water is transported through plants.
Exploring plant life cycles.
Art & Design -
We will be finding out about The Rainforest (linked to our Geography). The children will have opportunities to develop their skills in a variety of ways.
Our computing theme this half term is all about developing our Internet research skills. Some of this will include "Unplugged" activities, which do not involve a computer, but which embed computational thinking skills.
Geography and History -
Our topic work is based around the Rainforest.
We will be using maps to find out where the Rainforests are and finding out about climate zones.
We will also be thinking about how it compares to our local area.
This term we will be focussing on anti-bullying.
In P.E. we will be developing our gymnastics skills and working on teambuilding.
For this half term P.E. will be on Monday and Friday. Please make sure that your child has P.E. kit (plain black shorts and a plain white T shirt) in school on these days. Please ensure that ear rings and any other jewellery are removed.
Our R.E is focused on Christianity and thinking about why the Bible is important to Christians.
