Our Topic this term is – Creation and Conservation
A polar bear, an elephant, a panda and an orangutan all stuck in a boat? A house that's on top of a tree? What's going on?
Children will be looking at two wonderful books this term: The Journey Home and A House Held up by Trees. Through these two books, they will cover a range of writing in a creative ways, including posters, fact files, informative reports, short stories and a whole host of other exciting things. The books also link nicely to our topic on Living Things and their Habitats.
Maths - Addition and Subtraction
Can you tell me number bonds to 10? What about to 20? How about 100? What if I asked what 2 + 9 = or 35 - 14? Could you tell me?
Through our Maths lessons, we will cover a range of addition and subtraction, including the use of part, part whole models, bar models and a variety of other ways. They will also look at adding and subtracting 1 and 2 digit numbers, including crossing over from the tens. We will also be practicing our 2, 5 and 10x tables.
Science - Living things and their Habitats.
Ever wondered why a polar bear is covered in thick, white fur, or why fish have gills? Want to know what lives deep in a jungle? Well, you're about to find out!
In Science, we will be looking at a variety of animals and their habitats across the world. Travel with us across the Atlantic to the Plains of Africa, or dive deep in the depths of the Pacific to find what aquatic mysteries live there. Travel with us to the depths of the rainforest, and find what lies in wait!
Throughout this term, we will also cover the following:
P.E is on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure that all jewellery is removed.
We change Library books on Tuesdays.
The homework will be given out on Fridays, please can you ensure that it is handed in by Thursday.
