Our Topic this term is – Bravery and Fear
What are you afraid of? Heights? Spiders? What does it mean to have a fear? What does it mean to be brave?
Children will be looking at two wonderful books this term: The Bear Under The Stairs and The Minpins. Through these two books, they will cover a range of writing in a creative ways, including posters, fact files, informative reports, short stories and a whole host of other exciting things. The books also link nicely to our Art on Emotive Drawing.
Maths - Addition and Subtraction
Can you tell me number bonds to 10? What about to 20? How about 100? What if I asked what 2 + 9 = or 35 - 14? Could you tell me?
Through our Maths lessons, we will cover a range of addition and subtraction, including the use of part, part whole models, bar models and a variety of other ways. They will also look at adding and subtracting 1 and 2 digit numbers, including crossing over from the tens. We will also be practicing our 2, 5 and 10x tables.
Science - Uses of Everyday Materials
What are our clothes made us? Why are some materials suitable than other? What's the difference between opaque and transparent? Which material is best to protect something?
In Science, we will be looking at a variety of materials and their properties. We will also be gathering a variety of materials to study, and also use to aid our experiment of which material is best to protect something from breaking! So, if you have any spare bits of cardboard, plastic bottles, egg cartons etc. that you don't mind sending to be used, that would be extremely helpful!
Throughout this term, we will also cover the following:
P.E is on a Wednesday and Thursday this term. Please make sure that all jewellery is removed.
We change Library books on Tuesdays.
The homework will be given out on Fridays, please can you ensure that it is handed in by Thursday.
