Our Topic this term is – Going Exploring
Have you ever just wondered around anywhere and wanted to know more about it? What famous explorers do you know? What countries have you been to? Which ones would you like to go too?
Children will be looking at two wonderful books this term: Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jim and the Beanstalk. Through these two books, they will cover a range of writing in a creative ways, including posters, fact files, informative reports, short stories and a whole host of other exciting things.
Maths - Place Value and Addition and Subtraction
What is the value of each number in 54? How could you partition them? What is 10+15? How about 30-15?
Through our Maths lessons, we will cover Place Value where we will look at the value of 2 digit numbers as well as ordering and comparing numbers based on their value. In Addition and Subtraction we will look at adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers to/from 1 or 2 digit numbers using the column method.
Science - Animals Including Humans
What different animals can you name? How would you classify them? What do animals and humans need to live?
In Science, we will be looking at the different types of animals and classifying them into groups such as mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, fish and bird. We will also conduct experiments, such as looking as: Do you get better at things as you get older?
Throughout this term, we will also cover the following:
P.E is on a Monday. Please make sure your child has the correct PE kit, plain white t-shirt and plain black or blue shorts. No logos. Please can you also make sure that all jewellery is removed.
We change Library books on Tuesdays.
Homework this year will be focusing on children reading at home, spellings and maths, including practicing their times tables.
